(Introduction to Computers):

This course gives the student an introduction to the broad discipline of computer science and software engineering. It covers topics essential to creating a foundation of knowledge before moving on to more advanced courses. Topics include an introduction to computer architecture, introduction to programming logic and program design using C, IEEE floating point representation, integer representation, two's compliment, and object-oriented principles. Students must have an understanding of algebraic problem solving.

(Basic Information Systems):

This course covers theory and practice for the design and use of computer-based information systems in organizations. Follow-up work includes using a relational database and designing a personal web page. Students demonstrate their ability to use a personal computer for word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications by passing a competency exam.

(Introduction to Law):

An overview of the basics of legal systems, with special emphasis on Sudanese legal framework is given. The basic ingredients of the Sudanese laws and legal procedures   are taught.

Accounting is the language of business. This course introduces the student to accounting from the point of view of the user of financial reports and is appropriate for personal as well as business applications. Students explore the impact of transactions on the financial position and profitability of a business, and analyze financial reports of real-world corporations.

(Computer Programming 1):

Introduce the basic principles of programming and design. Topics covered are language syntax, algorithm, development, logic structures, arrays and math function.

نظم معلومات إدارية 3:

(Management Information Systems):

 

Management Information Systems means using information technology - computers and networks - to help operate businesses and other organizations. The heart of this course will be studying how to best organize business-related information in a computer system. In particular, the students will be taught how to design databases and work with them from a verbal or written description of a situation, and deciding what computer data tables to use and how they should be interrelated. "Hands-on" computer experience is also important, so they will learn to use Microsoft Access, relatively user-friendly relational database software that is part of the Microsoft Office software family. Some of the homework will involve constructing databases and associated queries, forms (windows/screens), and reports using Access.

(Applied Statistics):

Descriptive and inferential statistics, probability, sampling, estimation, tests of hypotheses, linear regression and correlation, chi-square tests, analysis of variance, and multiple regression.

(Introduction to Economics):

The course discusses the nature and method of economics with emphasis on microeconomic theory. Focus is on demand, supply, market equilibrium, elasticity, costs of production and resource pricing. It also examines the market structures of pure competition, oligopoly and monopoly. Only an overview on macroeconomics is given touching on international economics, monetary policy, taxes, public finances, economic output and growth, and international trade in the world economy.

(Systems Analysis & Design 1):

This course covers the structure and application of tools, technologies, and models for analyzing, designing, and evaluating information systems. Topics include: case tools, structured analysis, I/O design, rapid application development, simulation models, and prototyping, human factors, alternatives, and cost/benefit analysis, recommendations for a new system, implementation and post-evaluation.

The essential elements of a contract, the breach of contracts and the remedies for breach are discussed. Business and consumer laws, including white-collar crime, landlord-tenant rights, real property interests and administrative law are presented.

(Systems Analysis & Design 2):

System analysis and design is concerned with bringing all of a system’s components together: data, software, hardware, people, procedures, etc. The student will learn about the roles of systems analysts during systems development. In particular, this course focuses on the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of information systems. Along the way, students will learn about the tools, techniques, and methodologies used by analysts to develop information systems in organizations.

(Organizational Behaviour):

This course focuses on the application of principles and concepts relevant to managing and leading people in dynamic organizations. In addition the students will gain an understanding of the impact of behaviors and attitudes on others within organizational settings. This will allow them to both recognize group/organizational dynamics and understand how they will contribute to that dynamic. They will undertake several exercises to grow their “people skills” to help them recognize the effect that their behavior has upon others. The readings (and especially the cases) are critical to their learning. They will also learn concepts to help them develop their skills to deal with ethical decision-making.

(Human Resources Management ):

This course provides students an in-depth exposure to the management of human resources (HR) with an emphasis on the continuing support, development and retention of employees. We discuss the use of performance appraisals; traditional and incentive-based compensation plans; employee benefits programs; OSHA and workplace safety; employee and employer rights; unions, labor relations and collective bargaining; and global HR issues. Upon completion of this course students should be able to participate actively in the administration of a broad HR program.

(Strategic Management):

This course introduces the concept of strategic management through readings, discussion and case analyses, and considers the basic direction and goals of an organization, the environment (social, political, technological, economic and global factors), industry and market structure, and organizational strengths and weaknesses. The emphasis is on the development and successful implementation of strategy in different types of firms across industries.

(Cyber Law):

As the Internet has come to be a communications network for the masses and for commercial activities, legal authorities have gotten more interested in asserting authority over it and the activities of those who use it. This course includes subjects such as: Introduction to Cyberlaw, Debate over rights to control temporary copying and digital transmissions of copyrighted works and standards for liability of online service providers, WIPO Copyright Treaty, Proposals for a new form of legal protection for the contents of databases, online contracts, Commerce infrastructure issues, Trademark issues in Cyberspace, Online service liability issues, Cryptography issues, Privacy Issues, Copyright Issues and Jurisdiction/conflicts/dispute resolution issues.

بحوث عمليات 3:

(Operations Research):

Covers the concepts and tools related to managing a business operation. Topics include demand forecasting, operations strategy and resource planning, process layout, lean systems, inventory and quality.

إدارة تسويق 3:

(Marketing Management):

Marketing is the process that moves goods/services from concept through customer, while considering the customer's needs and satisfaction. Students learn marketing terminology and principles including the marketing mix (product, price, place and promotion) and the Four C's (Create, Connect, Change and Cancel). Marketing knowledge is reinforced through application, and students have an opportunity to integrate these principles with managerial accounting concepts.

(Feasibility Studies):

This course, through applied theory and practice, is designed to enable students to begin with a venture idea, and develop the opportunity into a new business beginning with a feasibility study and culminating in a financeable, comprehensive business plan. It will include topics such as: Definition of a Feasibility Study, How to write a market feasibility study, How to write a technical feasibility study, How to write a financial feasibility study, Organizational Structure of a feasibility study, Concluding and presenting feasibility study, and Executive Summary.





مهارات العمل وأخلاقيات المهنة 2:

(Entrepreneurial Skills & Professional Ethics ):

Students will become familiar with arguments originating from some of the schools of ethics, with special reference to Islamic culture and guidance. Students will apply these ethical schools of thought to formulate arguments, practice deliberation and assess the implications of their decisions for various stakeholders in a professional context. Prevailing Sudanese guidelines on business and professional ethics will be highlighted.

(Consumer Behaviour):

This course introduces students to the general perspectives currently taken in the study of consumer behaviour. Emphasis will be on consumer perception and consumer decision processes. Furthermore, the influence of social, cultural and psychological factors on how consumer behaves will be presented and discussed.

(Organizations Behaviour):

There are two ways to view behavior in organizations: cultural/interpretive and technical/rational. Students will explore both views, how they explain and predict organizational behavior and the management approaches they inform. Within these contexts, students will explore team and individual behaviors, ethical and diversity issues in the workplace, and how to foster success in the face of significant change. Students will apply course concepts to real-world scenarios and their personal experiences.

(Systems Analysis & Design 3):

As students have digested the previous two courses in Systems Analysis & Design, this course is intended to provide them with comprehensive, balanced and up-to-date coverage of systems analysis and design. The course maintains the dual focus on the concepts and techniques from both the traditional, structured approach and the object-oriented approach to systems development. Project management, teamwork and presentation skills are also emphasized.

(Accounting Information Systems):

This course covers the structure, flow and use of financial and non-financial data in computer-based environments with a heavy emphasis on ensuring data integrity. Conceptual data modeling using business rules, normalization, structured query language (SQL), and physical database design and data administration. Course includes cross-functional team project with phased deliverables.

(Database Management):

This course introduces organization and processing in enterprise Database Management Systems. The student will develop skills in database systems analysis, management and processing. The structure, components, and processing of enterprise Database Management Systems (DBMS) will be covered. The course is presented from the viewpoint of operating and maintaining an enterprise level database system as well as supporting its use.

(Operating Systems):

This course provides a comparative study of popular PC-class operating systems and operating environments, including DOS, Windows 9x (95 and 98), Windows NT, Windows 2000, and UNIX. Students will also understand the strengths and limitations of these operating systems and be able to identify the environments in which they are used. Subject matter is reinforced by hands-on laboratory exercises and assignments.

(Production Management):

This course considers production from a managerial perspective and addresses key performance measures of operations (productivity, quality and response time) as well as important concepts for improving the performance of operations along these dimensions. Topics covered will be: Scope of Operations Management, Strategy and Productivity, Forecasting, Product design, Capacity planning, Process selection and facility layout, Management of quality, Quality control, Inventory management, Aggregate planning, Scheduling, MRP, ERP, JIT.

(Decision Analysis & Making):

As business environments become more complex, the accompanying dilemmas require a more advanced problem-solving process. Students are introduced to methodology for analyzing data and applying appropriate techniques for unconventional and creative solutions. They will learn how to systematically analyze a problem, generate innovative and provocative ideas for solutions, make choices among those ideas, and evaluate the results.

تجارة إلكترونية 2:

(Electronic Commerce):

This course provides an in-depth examination of Internet marketing, including current innovations, ethical issues and tactics. A semester-long group-based project solving an internet marketing challenges for real-world businesses will help students apply their learning. Heavy use of the Internet, website analysis, consumer behavior and integrated media along with current events and changes in e-marketing will be required.

(Project Management):

A project is a complex, non-routine, one-time effort limited by time, budget, resources, and performance specifications designed to meet customer needs. The characteristics make project management a particularly challenging management task. Students will be introduced to skills that define a project's scope, specifications and assumptions. You will also learn to develop a work breakdown structure and task plan, and to schedule and control the project. These skills can be used immediately in work and home life. The class will also provide insight to project management software.

 

 

 

السنة الرابعة - الفصل الأول:

(File Management):

This course addresses the organization and structure of files including relationships between information representation and processing techniques, transformations between storage media, and the referencing of information as related to the structure of its representation. Topics include: (a) Underlying principles of file organization, structure, manipulation and utilization, (b) Basic concepts of information handling in physical, social and management sciences, (c) Planning, implementing, evaluating, optimizing, and documenting file management procedures using manual, electromechanical and electronic equipment and (d) Applying principles of file organization and information handling to the design of information systems taking into account the content of the files, needs of the user, and characteristics of data-processing equipment to be used.

(Theory & Applications of Information Systems):

This course provides students with a fundamental understanding of information technology in contemporary business environments. Students will study essential information systems found in current and emerging business models. Discussion will focus on information technology, contemporary decision support tools, and standards of behavior required of professionals working with information and information technology. The class uses a combination of lecture (50%) and lab experiences (50%) to explore current trends in information technology. Students will learn about technology and its impact on the business through readings from books, RSS feeds and other published resources including podcasts, discussions, and independent exploration. Students will work in a team and individual environment to solve business problems using decision support systems with MS Excel.

(Quantitative Methods):

This course prepares the student for carrying out research in general and specifically his graduation project. It elaborates on the student’s knowledge gained in the previously taught applied statistics. The course includes topics such as: Introduction and background to research, defining research problems, survey data collection and questionnaires, experiments and experimental design, analysis of variance, regression analysis, decision trees, linear programming, and queuing theory. Major emphasis will be placed on computer applications of quantitative methods applicable to business functional areas.

(Applications of Databases):

In this course the students will be introduced to the advanced features of the SQL language, and how it can be used to query a database in order to answer business questions. Students will examine the following advanced features: querying with unions, advanced joins and sub queries, add, update and remove data, manipulate tables, views and various indexes, ensure data integrity with transactions, and create databases. Applications on both managerial and accounting case studies will be undertaken.

This course aims at exposing the students to the design and management of information security in an organization. Topics they will study include: Integrated Management System (IMS), Components, aim of the system, place of the security management in IMS. Basic terms and definitions, structure, security policy, assessment management, International standards (ISO, ANSI & Others), Legal frame in the Sudan, Information security authorities, International and national organizations, ISO/IEC 27000 norms, Physical security - methods, techniques, real projects, Logical security - access control, authorization, ciphering, electronic signature, Administrative security - managerial concept - documentation, organization structures, responsibilities, BIA (Business Impact Analysis) - analysis of critical functions and processes, Disaster Recovery Planning, Business Continuity Planning, Audit of IMS with accent on audit of IS/ICT - techniques, methods, final report, Audit, certification, authorities, Trends in information security - biometrics, cards, new technologies.

إدارة مالية 2:

(Financial Management):

By studying this course, the students will learn the fundamental concepts of corporate financial management. They will acquire a theoretical framework of the financial management and apply it to real business decisions. Topics will essentially include:

Introduction to Corporate Finance, Financial Statements and Cash Flow, Discounted, Cash Flow Valuation, Net Present Value and Other Investment Rules, Making Capital, Investment Decisions, Interest Rates and Bonds Valuation, Stock Valuation, Cost of Capital and Capital Budgeting, Efficient Capital Markets and Behavioral Challenges, Financial Statements Analysis and Financial Models, Financial Ratios.

مشروع التخرج 3:

(Graduation Project - Man./Acc. Oriented):

The students, in groups of 2-3, will carry out independent research on a chosen problem under the guidance of a staff member. They will have to present and defend (in front of a panel of the staff) their current status at the end of the first semester and their final thesis at the end of the second semester. Evaluation of their work will be based on their individual and group efforts. Based on the student’s choice, the project will be one of the determining factors of their degree specialization (Managerial or Accounting Systems). Other factors will be the topics in the second semester of their final year of study.

(Modeling & Simulation):

This course focuses on what is needed to build simulation software environments, and not just building simulations using preexisting packages. It also introduces concepts of modeling layers of society's critical infrastructure networks along with building tools to view and control simulations and their results. Topics include: Simulation Basics, Dynamical, Finite State, and Complex Model Simulations, Converting to Parallel and Distributed Simulations, Probability and Statistics for Simulations and Analysis Simulations, Results Analysis and Viewing Tools.

تصميم النظم الحديثة 3:

(Modern Systems Design):

This course aims at developing further the student abilities in systems design with necessary skill for contemporary business. The course provides students with the foundations for effectively using modern systems analysis and design tools and methodologies for developing modern software and applications. Topics include systems planning and feasibility analysis, requirements analysis, systems economy, development of web-based information systems for E-business. Students learn, in a team environment, to develop web-based database applications for e-Commerce using available software.

(Small Business Management):

This course provides students with the skills and knowledge required to manage the establishment, planning, promotion, finances, operations and workforce of a small business. Topics presented will include: Planning of small business, Small business financing, Legal and risk management requirements of small business, Market for the small business, Reporting on financial activity of small business, Management of  a small team, Coordination and implementation of customer service strategies.

(Advanced Topics in Management):

This course provides an advanced topics emerging in the contemporary management practices. Selected topics include: Supply chain management, Leadership styles, Globalization, Globalization strategies, Cultural and structural issues impacting the development.

(Communication in Business Management):

This course covers the effective oral, interpersonal and written business communication skills using critical thinking skills to analyze business-related situations and apply appropriate communication frameworks. Polished communication skills will be fostered through various communication approaches and technologies.

مشروع التخرج - إدارة 3:

(Graduation Project - Managerial Oriented):

The students, in groups of 2-3, will carry out independent research on a chosen problem under the guidance of a staff member. They will have to present and defend (in front of a panel of the staff) their current status at the end of the first semester and their final thesis at the end of the second semester. Evaluation of their work will be based on their individual and group efforts. Based on the student’s choice, the project will be one of the determining factors of their degree specialization (Managerial or Accounting Systems). Other factors will be the topics in the second semester of their final year of study.

(Modeling & Simulation):

This course focuses on what is needed to build simulation software environments, and not just building simulations using preexisting packages. It also introduces concepts of modeling layers of society's critical infrastructure networks along with building tools to view and control simulations and their results. Topics include: Simulation Basics, Dynamical, Finite State, and Complex Model Simulations, Converting to Parallel and Distributed Simulations, Probability and Statistics for Simulations and Analysis Simulations, Results Analysis and Viewing Tools.

(Modern Systems Design):

This course aims at developing further the student abilities in systems design with necessary skill for contemporary business. The course provides students with the foundations for effectively using modern systems analysis and design tools and methodologies for developing modern software and applications. Topics include systems planning and feasibility analysis, requirements analysis, systems economy, development of web-based information systems for E-business. Students learn, in a team environment, to develop web-based database applications for e-Commerce using available software.

(Costing & Managerial - Accounting):

This course includes analysis of Job Order and Process, Cost Systems, Cost Behavior and Cost-Volume Profit Analysis, Profit Reporting for Management Analysis (Variable and Absorption Costing), Statement of Cash Flows and Financial Statement, Budgeting and Standard Costs, Differential Analysis and Product Pricing, Capital Investment Analysis, Cost Allocation, Activity Based Costing and Cost Management for Just-in-Time Environments.

(Financial Accounting):

This course will introduce the students to the study of corporate financial accounting concepts and theories with emphasis on the preparation and use of the income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows and equity purposes. Coverage involves the process of analyzing, processing, interpreting and communicating the financial information to aid in decision making.
